This is a two pc. buckle made of brass, with a circular center with an anchor and crossed muskets.
Where can I find info on circa 1870 US Navy belt buckles?
Ebay and most internet sites won%26#039;t give you information unless you want to buy or sell, unless you know exactly what you have and just gett licky. You should find a good library. There are thousands of books that have been published to help people identify artifacts, especially military artifacts. Go to a good library and if you don%26#039;t know where to go there, just ask a librarian.You%26#039;ll probably get more info than you need.
Reply:Having worked in an archaeology lab for several years (though I do not anymore), I can tell you from experience that it is very difficult to accurately identify artifacts online.
If this belt buckle means alot to you, I would just make a trip to the library. It%26#039;s what an archaeologist would do. Report It
Reply:Try Ebay.
